It’s that time of the year when summer is in full swing and we’re packing up our cars and taking some of those vacation days. Weekend get-aways and week-long escapades are in full demand. I just got back from a weekend get-away last weekend at the Alexander Hotel in Miami Beach. It’s nice to be able to get away and only have a 30 minute drive from home. Others are packing up and heading to Naples, Marco Island (my favorite), Sarasota, Sanibel a few hours away or more extravagant vacations that require a quick plane ride. Regardless of your destination, you want to look chic and comfortable in the blazing summer heat.

Here are some of my beach bum essentials: cute cover ups are number one on my list. Since most of your time will be spent on the beach or lounging by the pool a cute coverup is what you’ll be sporting most of the day. Something long and flowy, airy or short and sexy usually does the trick. Something that won’t get sand stuck in it, will let air breeze through with the temperatures reach the 90s and above and something that’s quick to throw on and take off. A big beach back to fill with your lotions, lip balms, reading material, iPod, and others beach time essentials is always needed. Let’s not forget some big shades and maybe even a hat to keep the sun (and wrinkles) away from your eyes and face.
